For christening ensembles, socks and tights may be plain or decorated with lace and/or a symbol. This accessory should match as closely as possible the the color of the gown. If off-white socks are unavailable, white socks can be tea stained to match off-white gowns. If you are using a gown or long set it will most likely be unseen.

For christening gowns and christening suits, which are most always in all white, shoes are usually selected in all white as well. These tiny baby shoes may be very plain or very decorated. Generally, shoes for baby boys are less decorated. Shoes for christening gowns and dresses for infant girls can be extremely frilly and decorative. However, the selection of shoe, beyond a matching color and coordinating material, is a matter of preference.

We do suggest that materials match as closely as possible, soft white leather will go well with any ensemble. However, a shiny satin baby shoe may look out of place against a cotton weave or gabardine christening gown or christening suit.
